School Director Dr. Marc Amsili
Dr. Marc Amsili founded his first dental practice in Austin, Texas in 1992 after completing his education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and a general practice residency at UTHSC in Houston, based at Hermann Hospital and treating patients at surrounding hospitals including Ben Taub, the institute of Rehabilitation and Research, Methodist Hospital, M.D. Anderson, and L.B.J Hospital. By 1998, the practice had evolved to its present three-clinic group known as Omni Dental Group.
In 1987 as a freshman dental student, Dr. Amsili taught Microbiology to Dental Students at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. During the summer of 1987, he taught Anatomy and Physiology to the Hygiene Department at U.T. Health Science Center in San Antonio. During 1988, he taught Microbiology to Freshman Dental Students class at U.T. Health Science Center. In 1991, as a Senior Dental Student, he taught Gross Anatomy and Lab to the Freshman Dental Students at U.T. Health Science Center.
While attending the University of Texas Health Science Center, he donated his time and expertise to provide surgery and dental services to impoverished Mexican citizens. Later, he performed an externship in Colorado to assist the Colorado Migrant Works Association and their families.
He enjoys many water sports including boating, swimming, and jet skiing. He also enjoys traveling, reading, and real estate. Dr. Amsili has been featured on five Good Living episodes on a National Syndicate Show.
Education Director Maggie Ohlenke
Maggie Ohlenke is a Dental Assistant Instructor at the Star of Texas Dental Assisting School.
Maggie Ohlenke is a 1998 graduate of University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas where she received an Associate’s of Science in Dental Hygiene. After becoming a Registered Dental Hygienist, Maggie began her 26 year career in the dental field. She has worked in Texas and in Michigan and has been a valued member of Omni Dental Group for the past year. Maggie is CPR and LASER certified and continues to take continuing education courses.
Maggie Ohlenke also spent time teaching Health Science in Austin. Maggie Ohlenke has extensive dental training and her knowledge of hygiene and teaching has made her a valuable member of the Star of Texas Dental Assisting School.
Maggie’s enjoys spending time with her family.
Director of Education Lindsay Lopez
Lindsay Lopez is a Dental Assistant Instructor at Star of Texas Dental Assisting School.
Lindsay Lopez is a 2001 graduate of Taylor High School and received her Associate’s of Arts degree from Temple College in 2006. Lindsay continued her education at Tarleton State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2008. Lindsay received her dental assisting training through several years of working in private practices, and has worked as the Office Manager at Omni Dental Group for the past 7 years. She obtained her dental assisting license, including certifications in Radiology, Jurisprudence and Infection Control, from the UTHSCSA Dental School in 2014. Lindsay is BLS certified and continues to participate in continuing education courses.
With an educational background focused on dental assisting and dental administration, Lindsay has a diverse picture of the dental profession. She has worked in a private practice office, group practice and school-based program, which has allowed her to work with a variety of other dental professionals and has expanded her knowledge of the field. With more than 10 years of dental experience, Lindsay has extensive knowledge of the front office/administration aspect of a dental practice. These skills, along with her background in education, have made Lindsay a valuable member at the Star of Texas Dental Assisting School.
In her free time, Lindsay enjoys spending time with family, volunteering in the community and dental related organizations. Lindsay also enjoys hunting and sports.
Instructor Dr. Gloria Michelle Amsili
Dr. Michelle Amsili graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1992. Upon graduation, she joined a private practice in the San Antonio area.
In 1994, she and her brother, Dr. Marc Amsili, opened the William Cannon location of Omni Dental Group. Dr. Michelle Amsili has been in private practice for 22 years. She continues to practice at that location. She has an extensive background in dentistry and has attended over 300 continuing education classes and trained multitudes of dental assistants over the past 22 years. She has also given many hours of volunteer care to Texas Mission of Mercy.
In 2007, Dr. Michelle Amsili taught the Texas Dental Association Registration Course to multiple dental assistants as Texas dental assistants were required to have proof of competency in jurisprudence, infection control, and radiology.
Dr. Amsili is interested in music, theater and is an animal lover.
Instructor Christa Feinauer
Christa Feinauer is a Dental Assistant Instructor at the Star of Texas Dental Assisting School.
Christa Feinauer is a 2006 graduate of Mount Pisgah Christian High School in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2010, Christa Feinauer graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences. She continued her dental education, and in 2012 Christa received her Associate’s of Science in Dental Hygiene from Blinn College in Bryan, Texas. Christa Feinauer has worked as a Dental Hygienist for Omni Dental Group for the past 2 years. Christa is CPR and LASER certified and continues to take continuing education courses.
Christa Feinauer has extensive dental training and her knowledge of hygiene and assisting has made her a valuable member of the Star of Texas Dental Assisting School. Christa prides herself in patient care, creating an inviting and comforting environment for patients.
Christa’s hobbies include decorating cakes, crafting and gardening. She also enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Paisley.
Instructor Laci Felderhoff
Laci Felderhoff is a Dental Assistant Instructor at the Star of Texas Dental Assisting School.
Laci Felderhoff graduated from Gainesville High School in 2008 and continued her education at the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2012. Laci has received dental assisting training through employment in the dental field, and has worked for Omni Dental Group for the past 3 years. She obtained her dental assistant license, including certifications in Radiology, Jurisprudence, and Infection Control, from the UTHSCSA Dental School in 2014. Laci is BLS certified and continues to participate in continuing education courses.
Through the past years, Laci has gained extensive knowledge of the front office, dental administration and dental insurance. Her background in science and the dental field have made her an integral member of the Star of Texas team.
Laci spends her free time playing volleyball, coaching club volleyball and spending time with her family. She also enjoys watching the Texas Longhorns and attending the UT football games.
Instructor Donna Harbers
Donna Harbers began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant after graduating from college in 1981. After moving to a rural town outside of Austin, Texas, Donna Harbers fell into the dental field out of luck and loved working and growing within the dental field. Donna Harbers started working for a general dentist who was the President of the Area 10th District Dental Association.
Dr. Ben Sobotik trained Mrs. Harbers in all aspects of dental assisting. After studying merchandizing and marketing in college, Donna Harbers had a smooth transition to Office Manager. She attended a variety of continuing education courses and worked with several dental consulting firms who helped her grow over the years, including Linda Miles – MG Miles Global, Pride Institute, Levin Group, McKenzi Management, Seattle Study Club, and the American Association of Dental Office Managers. With encouragement from her employer, she started helping other practices train their administrative employees and developed local study clubs for dental offices in Austin and central Texas.
Mrs. Harbers’ work in dental practices is multifaceted. Donna Harbers has worked in a large pediatric practice, several cosmetic practices and now works for a practice for every type of specialty. She became a Dental Office Manager after working as a Dental Assistant and Front Office Staff Member. She is now the Director of Operations for a multi-office practice. Since 2006, Mrs. Harbers has been the Director of Operations with Omni Dental Group, a Multi-Specialist Group practice with 3 offices in Austin, Texas.
In 2007, Donna Harbers taught the Texas Dental Association Registration Course to multiple dental assistants, as Texas dental assistants were required to have proof of competency in jurisprudence, infection control, and radiology.
Donna Harbers has been in the dental field since 1981 and has 33 years of experience in a dental office. The 33 years in the dental field has helped her understand the dynamics of success in the dental team. Mrs. Harbers understanding of leadership is deep. She knows the demands of quality patient care, leading and training a winning team, and running a successful business. She believes that the most important thing in a dental team is the quality of well-educated and trained dental staff.
Instructor Lori Toungate
Lori Toungate is a Dental Assistant Instructor at the Star of Texas Dental Assisting School.
Lori Toungate is a 2005 graduate of Leander High School. In 2012, Lori graduated at the top of her class from Austin Dental Careers Dental Assisting School. She received her dental assistant license and certifications in Jurisprudence, Infection Control, and Radiology from UTHSCSA. Lori has worked as a lead assistant at Omni Dental Group for the past two years, gaining extensive training in Endodontics, Periodontics, and Oral Surgery. Lori is CPR and First Aid certified and continues to take continuing education courses.
Through her experience in the dental field, she has gained considerable knowledge in both assisting and office duties of a private group practice. Lori Toungate helps create a cohesive work environment, allowing patient care to be the priority.
Lori Toungate helps tutor special needs children and works to advance Autism Awareness in Austin. Lori spends her free time with her family, cooking and volunteering as her son’s t-ball coach.
Instructor LeAnn Brandt
LeAnn Brandt is a Dental Assistant Instructor at the Star of Texas Dental Assisting School.
LeAnn Brandt is a 1998 graduate of Leander High School. In 2012, LeAnn completed her prerequisite courses for dental hygiene at Northwest Vista Community College in San Antonio, Texas. She began her studies in Dental Hygiene at Austin Community College in 2013 and received certifications Nitrous Oxide and Radiology from UTHSCSA. LeAnn is a Licensed Dental Assistant and has worked as a treatment coordinator at Omni Dental Group for the past year and has over 12 years of experience in the dental field. LeAnn is CPR and First Aid certified and continues to take continuing education courses.
Through her experience in the dental field, she has gained considerable knowledge in both assisting and office duties of a private group practice. LeAnn helps promote patient comfort while training new staff and providing treatment options for patients. Her cross-training in front desk duties and dental assisting provides an invaluable insight into creating a dynamic dental staff and achieving operation goals.
LeAnn enjoys living in Austin and partaking in the music festivals and concerts Austin has to offer. When she is not working, LeAnn spends time with her family and cat.
